Drinks with Chado: Summertime Iced Tea Lattes

Drinks with Chado: Summertime Iced Tea Lattes

Temperatures are rising and that can mean only one thing, we are in the dog days of summer.  It’s mid-July here in California and we are starting to feel the heat. Gone are the cooler days of June and here are the sweltering days of July.  While drinking an iced cold glass of water is ideal in this heat, sometimes that can be a bit boring.  Here at Chado we believe an ice cold tea latte is just as good as keeping away the heat!  Today we have a couple of fun and easy Summertime iced tea lattes that can be enjoyed by the whole family.

Strawberry Jasmine Iced Tea Latte

Strawberry Syrup Ingredients:

  • 1 pound strawberries, roughly chopped

  • Juice of half a lemon

  • 2 tablespoons water

  • 2 tablespoons honey

Latte Ingredients:

  • 2 cups hot water

  • 3 tablespoons Finest Jasmine Pearls

  • ¾ cup cold milk

  • Crushed ice

  • Strawberries, garnish

Directions:

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine chopped strawberries, water, honey, and lemon juice.

  2. Cook for about 6 to 8 minutes, stirring continuously until the strawberries are broken down into a thick syrup.

  3. Transfer mixture to a blender or food processor, pulse until smooth.  Allow to cool in the fridge until completely cool.

  4. While the mixture cools, steep the Finest Jasmine Pearls for 3 to 4 minutes.  Remove the pearls once steeped and chill until cold.

  5. In 4 tall glasses, spoon 3 tablespoons of the strawberry syrup into the bottom of each glass.  Add in one cup of crushed ice to the glasses.

  6. In each glass, pour in a half cup of tea, top with a few tablespoons of milk and enjoy!

Iced Lavender Matcha Latte

Directions:

  1. In a glass, add in the milk and lavender syrup.  Using a frother, whisk together the milk and lavender syrup until a nice foam forms.

  2. In a bowl, add in the matcha and 2 ounces of water.  Using a frother, whisk together until thoroughly combined.

  3. In the glass with ice, add in the matcha and top with the foam.  Garnish with lavender buds and enjoy!

    Cookie Butter Iced Chai Latte

    Ingredients for Brown Sugar Syrup:

    • 4 tablespoons lightly packed brown sugar

    • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

    • 6 tablespoons water

    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    Latte Ingredients:

    • 2 Devan’s Legacy Chai Pyramid Tea Bags

    • 1 cup boiling water

    • Ice

    • Milk of your choice

    Directions:

    1. In a mug, steep the Devan’s Legacy Chai for 10 minutes.

    2. In a small saucepan over medium heat, add in the brown sugar, cinnamon, water, and vanilla extract.  Once at a simmer, lower the heat to low and simmer for about 3 to 5 minutes stirring frequently.  The sugar should be fully dissolved and the syrup should be slightly thickened.  Remove from heat and set aside.

    3. To the hot tea, add 2 tablespoons of the brown sugar syrup and stir until dissolved.

    4. Fill a tall glass with ice, add in tea and top with the milk of your choice.
