Drinks with Chado: Sober October Non-Alcoholic Tea Cocktails

Drinks with Chado: Sober October Non-Alcoholic Tea Cocktails

Sober October, a phrase you may have seen or heard on social media being used by your friends and family.  A campaign originally linked to the Macmillan Cancer Support center in the United Kingdom, this trend is used to show participants the benefits of abstaining from alcohol.  A few of those benefits could be weight loss, higher energy levels,  improved sleep, and even improved memory.  In the spirit of Sober October we have two tasty mocktails to share with you today.  Both tea mocktails are fun, sober twists on classic cocktails!

Non-alcoholic Long Island Iced Tea

We couldn’t do a collection of mocktails without the famous Long Island Iced Tea! But did you know the original cocktail contains no tea at all?

  • 8 cups boiling water
  • 6 Chado Breakfast PTBs
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 ½ cups ginger beer
  • 1 freshly squeezed lemon
  • 1 lemon sliced, garnish
  • Sprig of mint, garnish
  • Ice

  1. In a large dispenser, add in the 8 cups of boiling water and the Chado Breakfast PTBs.  Allow to steep for 4 minutes and remove the PTBs from the dispenser.  Leave to cool in the fridge for up to 1 hour.

  2. Once the tea has cooled, add in the apple cider vinegar, ginger beer, and lemon juice. Top with ice and stir to incorporate.

  3. Serve in tall glasses and garnish with lemon slices and fresh mint.

Non-alcoholic Cosmopolitan

This mocktail will leave you feeling like Miss Carrie Bradshaw.  Fun, Fabulous, and Flirty!

  • 1 teaspoon Hawaiian Cocktail tea
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1 tablespoon cranberry juice
  • 1 ½ tablespoons orange juice
  • 1 ½ teaspoon lime juice
  • Pinch of sugar, optional
  • Lime slice, garnish

  1. Steep the Hawaiian Cocktail tea for at least 5 minutes, longer if you’d like a stronger taste.  Remove tea and set aside.

  2. In a cocktail shaker with ice, add in the tea, cranberry juice, orange juice, and lime juice. If you’d like to sweeten the drink, add in a pinch of sugar.

  3. Shake until combined.

  4. Strain into a martini glass and garnish with a slice of lime.
