Drinks With Chado: Colombian White Tea Cocktails

We’re halfway through August here at Chado Tea and the heat is not letting up, but we have found the perfect way to cool down this August.  Today we are highlighting two unique White tea based cocktails using our special Bitaco Colombian White Tea!  This tea is known for its delicate and light flavor profile, ideal for a late summertime cocktail.

White Tea Shot

This recipe is perfect for enjoying a flavorful cocktail on the fly!

Ingredients:

  • White tea infused vodka

  • 1 tablespoon honey

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

  • ½ teaspoon fresh grated ginger

  • 4 fresh mint leaves

Directions:

  1. With the vodka of your choice, steep the Bitaco Colombian White Tea for about an hour or two, depending on the flavor strength you prefer.

  2. In a cocktail shaker, add in the honey, ginger, lemon juice and mint leaves.  Muddle the ingredients together, crushing the mint leaves and ginger as much as possible.

  3. Add in the white tea infused vodka and 2 ice cubes.  Shake vigorously.

  4. Strain into a shot glass and enjoy!

White Tea and Rum Cocktail

This recipe is a tropical infusion in a glass, great for night’s spent with friends outside on the patio.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup honey

  • 1 cup water

  • Peel of 1 lime

  • 2 ounces of brewed Bitaco Colombian White Tea, cooled

  • 1 ounce white rum

  • ½ ounce fresh lime juice

  • 1 lime slice, garnish

Directions:

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the honey, lime peel, and water.  Bring to a boil and cook until slightly reduced.

  2. Transfer the syrup to a container with a lid and refrigerate until chilled, about 30 minutes.

  3. Strain the peel out from the syrup prior to use.

  4. In a cocktail shaker, combine together the tea, rum, lime juice, ½ ounce of the honey-lime syrup and ice cubes.

  5. Shake for about 10 seconds or until fully chilled, strain into a martini glass and serve straight up.

  6. Garnish with a lime slice and enjoy!
