In The Kitchen with Chado: Tea Infused Butter
The sun is finally shining here in Southern California and all we can think about is having afternoon tea outside with family and friends. The perfect addition to our sunshine afternoon tea is always a soft scone with loads of butter. While butter is always a good idea in the kitchen, did you know that you can infuse your butter with tea?! Today we have a recipe for an Orange Black tea infused butter, perfect for welcoming in the never ending rays of sunshine.
Citrus Tea Infused Butter
Ingredients:
-
½ pound unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
-
½ pound salted butter, softened to room temperature
-
1 tablespoon honey
-
5 tablespoons Orange Black tea
-
1 teaspoon lemon rind, grated
-
1 teaspoon orange rind, grated
-
½ teaspoon lemon juice
-
½ teaspoon orange juice
Directions:
-
Steep 3 tablespoons of Orange Black tea in a mug, allow to steep until the tea is strong and set aside for later.
-
Take the other 2 tablespoons and grind down the tea with a mortar and pestle or spice grinder, the tea should ideally be a fine consistency.
-
In a mixing bowl combine the fine Orange black tea, butter, honey, lemon rind, orange ring, lemon juice, and orange juice.
-
To this mixture add in 3 tablespoons of the strongly brewed tea and whip until all the ingredients are combined.
-
Line a container with plastic wrap, scrap in the butter and seal the container. You can allow the butter to chill for a minimum of 2 hours or leave overnight for best results.
