Taco Bell Serves Tea? Try Taco Bell's Summer Tea Refrescas

Taco Bell and tea—now there’s a sentence I never thought I’d say. But this summer, Taco Bell has decided to throw us all a curveball and step into the world of tea. Their new Refrescas lineup of drinks includes two made with green tea, boasting up to 51mg of caffeine. Interesting? Absolutely. But the real question is: how do they measure up on the 5 out of 5 Chado Tea Leaves scale? Let’s find out.
Strawberry Passionfruit Agua Refresca
Ingredients: Green tea, Strawberry and Passionfruit flavors, freeze-dried strawberry pieces.
Rating: 3 out 5 Chado Tea Leaves
Smell: Right off the bat, there wasn’t much of an aroma. The strongest note I picked up was strawberry, while the green tea itself seemed completely overshadowed by the added strawberry and passionfruit flavorings.
Color: A pinkish peach/red hue
Taste: Flavor-wise, it followed the same pattern as the aroma—heavily strawberry-forward. Surprisingly, it wasn’t as sweet as I’d expect from a fast-food drink, but the green tea presence was barely there, with the passionfruit lingering faintly in the background.
Final Review: Overall, this is a fun little twist on a summer drink—refreshing, tasty, and easy to enjoy. But if you’re expecting a bold, green-tea-forward experience, this isn’t it. Think of it more as a fruity summer refresher with a whisper of tea in the background.
Mango Peach Agua Refresca
Ingredients: Green tea, Mango and Peach flavors, freeze-dried mango pieces.
Rating: 2.5 out 5 Chado Tea Leaves
Smell: Aromatically, it didn’t have much going on—none of the ingredients really stood out. Right off the bat, the scent felt pretty flat and underwhelming.
Color: Warm, golden peach
Taste: The mango and peach play together nicely—balanced and bright without one overpowering the other. It delivers a true summer flavor and vibe, sweeter than the Strawberry Passionfruit Agua Refresca, with just a hint of bitterness at the end. As for the green tea? Nowhere to be found.
Final Review: While the peach and mango flavor was spot-on, the complete lack of green tea taste leaves this one falling short. Is it a fun summer drink? Absolutely. Is it a fun summer tea drink? Not even close.
Final Notes: There is a third Agua Fresca in this lineup—Dragonfruit Berry—but my Taco Bell was out, so that conquest will have to wait for another day. Overall, I think this was a fun and unexpected way for a beloved fast-food chain to introduce tea in a different format. Did I feel like I was bouncing off the walls from the promised 51mg of caffeine per drink? Not in the slightest—but that’s just me. Taco Bell had the right idea here, and with a little more emphasis on the green tea profile, they could really have something special.
