Fine tea for the true connoisseur

Chado Tea’s outlet at Palm Beach Galleria is the firstof- its-kind in the country, offering a good 110 flavours of teas to choose from tired of spending on old coffee combos? Don’t you wish the city had more hangouts serving steamy and flavoured tea from across the world? Your wish has been granted.

The newly opened Chado Tea at Palm Beach Galleria mall brings together 110 different flavours of tea from across the world.

Chado means ‘way of tea’ in Japanese and is an US-based chain of stores called tea rooms. Chado Tea Room is mainly in wholesale business with International Tea Importers (ITI).This is the first time the store has been launched in India at Vashi in August.

Amit Mehta, Co-Owner & Chief (Indian Operations), said, “We believe tea is wine of the 21st century. We have over 500 varieties in our menu. If there is a particular variety of tea available in any part of the world, than we have to have it. Vashi is our pilot project in India and we have 110 flavoured varieties currently on the shelf. We would also be selling loose tea once the licensing issues are cleared.”

The menu is divided in to iced tea, hot tea and snacks. The price range for iced tea starts from Rs 30 depending on your choice of flavour. Several fruit-based flavours are available like strawberry, guava, litchi and so on.You may choose between black, green and herbal tea. Hot tea includes the much-loved masala chai, Earl Grey with an orange tang, herbal and so on.

Once the company gets clearance, they will hold free testing sessions every weekend for connoisseurs to taste different flavours free-of-cost.

There are many unique flavours to excite your senses. One such is Jasmine Moon Tea which blooms into a jasmine flower when added to boiled water and can be used repeatedly four to five times.

“The Red Mudan is very handy while traveling. Here, the flowers are plucked and tied making it easy to carry. You need to add it to boiling water for only few minutes and it can be re-used 6 to 7 times. All the varieties are hand-picked. James Norwood Pratt, an authority on the subject is an integral part of our organization,” he added.

Further there are mouth watering snacks like muffins, pastries and cookies priced at Rs 35 and above. So get ready to taste these exotic flavours at Chado and bring that much-needed taste to your mundane breakfast.
